Psychotherapy
Psychodynamic psychotherapy involves exploration of unconscious phenomena. With deeper understanding often comes greater satisfaction in relationships, work, and a more durable alleviation of symptoms. This form of work requires meeting once or twice weekly for months to years.
Psychoanalysis
Psychoanalysis is the most intensive form of self study. Emphasis is placed on unearthing unconscious patterns through free association and transference within the psychotherapeutic relationship. Analysis requires a commitment of three to four sessions per week for a period of years.
Medication
Judicious use of psychotropic medication can be helpful to facilitate the process of therapy by stabilizing symptoms, but will only be prescribed to patients who are actively engaged in psychodynamic or psychoanalytic work.
About
Zachary Feldman, MD
I believe mental health results from a complex constellation of past and present interpersonal, intrapersonal, and bio-physiologic influence. My approach is toward narrative and understanding within a safe, dyadic relationship.
Following training at Columbia University, I have maintained an active clinical affiliation with the University of Washington, Overlake Medical Center, and the Seattle Psychoanalytic Society & Institute.
